Prince William County Board Approves New Arts Council Charter

Woodbridge, Virginia – During its June 6, 2023, regular meeting, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors unanimously approved a new charter for the Prince William County Arts Council (PWCAC) by adopting resolution #23-298. PWCAC is a public body of Prince William County, Virginia whose mission is to promote and support local artists and arts organizations and
enlighten and educate audiences about the arts in Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and the City Manassas Park, hereinafter referred to as the Greater Prince William Area.

The Council’s Charter is similar to Bylaws or other governing documents of an organization. Last Minute Meetings provided consulting on the revised Charter to the County. “As a Parliamentarian who services Woodbridge, Manassas, and Prince William County, I was excited to give input into the new charter for the Arts Council,” said Donald Garrett, the Principal of Last Minute Meetings. “Citizen advisory groups play an important role in local government and the Arts Council now has improved operating parameters to help guide their efforts. The new Charter streamlines procedures and clearly outlines public meeting responsibilities under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.”

Last Minute Meetings provides consulting on bylaws and other governing documents to nonprofits, homeowners associations, and other types of entities. The consulting can take the form of establishing a new organization, proposing discrete changes, or even conducting an organizational assessment and deriving a wholesale revision.
